Content Warning: Ren comes from a tabletop RPG called Werewolf the Apocalypse (World of Darkness). There are many problematic elements within the setting itself, including disrespectful and stereotypical representations of race, disability and sex/gender.

Rage is a Garou's primal anger. A force of pure violence and destruction. Ren can use her rage to attack or act faster than she should be able to, instantly change between her werewolf forms, recover from being stunned, remain active if she is felled in combat (sometimes called rage healing). However, on the flipside, if she looses control of herself she can fall into a mindless frenzy, a violent outburst where she is a danger to everyone around her. People may also find Ren an intimidating presence due to her ever simmering rage.

WILLPOWER:

Ren's willpower is her hidden strength to overcome her base urges and force herself into resilience. It is her 'grit' and self-control. Willpower allows Ren to push herself to succeed, fight the urge to react to primal instincts (shying away from fire), prevent or half a frenzy or continue fighting when she is extremely hurt.

GNOSIS:

Gnosis is Ren's spiritual power and connection to Gaia the Sacred Mother - also the planet. It is the essence of the spiritual world. It is required to travel to the Umbra (the Spirit World - Ren will be unable to access the Umbra in Rubi), activate some gifts, activate magical items called Fetishes and bargain with spirits. Being that Ren is a warrior, she has not prioritised Gnosis.

Hares Leap - Ren can leap double her normal jumping distance when she successfully activates this gift.

Razor Claws - When expending her rage, Ren rakes her claws over stone, steel or another hard surface to hone them to razor sharpness. Her claw attacks are then more cutting and dangerous.

City Running - When expending her rage, Ren can move vertically as easily as horizontally. She cannot move any faster than usual but it does allow her to run and climb buildings with ease.

Persuasion - Ren can be unnaturally persuasive when dealing with others, in a way that her statements and arguments have an additional supernatural weight to them. It makes her more credible or adds additional meaning to her words that might sway her target.

Grim Resolve - When expending her gnosis, Ren can inspire fellow Garou by lending her resolve or righteous anger to her fellow werewolves. All comrades receive an automatic success on one willpower roll (used for preventing frenzy etc)

Brew - When expending gnosis, Ren is able to mystically transform a pitcher of any liquid into an alcoholic substance. This can range from cheap domestic bear, low-budget wine or mediocre tequila to vintage champagnes and top-shelf liquor. If she doesn't activate the gift properly, the brew will induce massive hangovers in any who imbibe it.

Ceridwen's Blood - Ren can tap the life-force within her own blood to restore a fallen ally. However, in doing so, she must suffer the wounds she heals on them. She spills her own blood but cannot soak this damage. She can mitigate the damage of aggravated wounds by spending gnosis but otherwise must heal this naturally.

Loyal Defender - Ren can pledge a vow of loyalty to her brothers and sisters in arms (Garou only), as proof against anything that would tear open a rift between them. The effect of this gift is premenant. This reduces Ren's capabilty for violence (wilful or not) against her packmates. If she deals damage to an ally while under supernatural influence or the Thrall of the Wyrm she can immediately attempt to snap herself out of it.

Shatter Bone - Before striking an opponent, Ren can expend a willpower and rage to activate this gift. Ren is able to destroy bone with a single punch, regardless of the damage inflicted by the blow. This aim of this gift is to handicap the opponent in a fight but requires a greater difficulty in making the attack as it is a 'called shot'.

Heart of Fury - Ren can steel herself against anger, suppressing her rage and creating a mental dam against her explosive and violent frenzy. The anger will eventually catch up to her and will need to be vented before she snaps. This allows her greater control of herself and greater ability to protect the veil between werewolves and humans from damage.

Kin Life: (2002-2019) 0-17

Born 22nd Feb 2002 to Finn and Emmy O'Neill. Named Wren. First child of their family.
Raised in the Fianna tribe of Werewolves (Garou). We raised with the belief and understanding that Garou are not only real but are the spiritual warriors protecting the world from a greater evil. She, as kinfolk, was raised to believe it was her role to support her Garou relatives (Father and Aunt) in whatever ways she could. Was raised with the hope that she would some day undergo the change and become Garou herself due to her 'purebreed' - having two relatives in recent history who were Garou.
Wren was a deeply unacademic child and struggled in school up until puberty. At that point, she became angry, fought anyone who looked at her funny and did everything she could to get out of having to sit still.
Eventually her family allowed her to leave mainstream education and be educated on the sept. This mostly consisted on her doing the bare minimum to not be sent back to 'real' school and spending her time focusing on physical training. Wren turned into an angry bully, using her fists to communicate. Her father channelled this into teaching her how to grappling, boxing and sending her to martial arts classes under the belief that it had a use if properly controlled.
Around fifteen, she started to sneak out of the house late at night to meet up with other young Fianna kin. At first it was just to screw around with boys in the woods behind their houses. But before long she started to get brave enough to sneak out to screw around with girls as well. Wren had a lot of internalised fear of her family finding out that she liked girls (that wasn't the 'proper' way to do things after all). She did everything in her power to hide that she was going out to meet girls and everything in her power to publicise that she was going out to meet boys.
There was one boy on the sept that she was quite smitten with (Ryan Heylock) who underwent the change at sixteen. They'd been friendly as children and interested with each other as they grew up. Wren took this to be a good sign that even if she didn't end up changing, there might be someone who would claim her as a mate when they got older. Unfortunately, Ryan and Wren were caught screwing around during Ryan's fostering (a time where young Fianna are supposed to abstain from Family, Booze and Fucking in order to focus on learning their duty to the Nation) and were abruptly separated - with mostly amusement from the part of Fianna elders. It was after all, only natural for young Fionns with their bloods up not to be able to keep their hands off each other. Ryan was sent to another sept for fostering and Wren was firmly told to leave him be during his training. Which only made it all the more awkward when she experienced the change a year later.

Cub: (2019-2020) 17-18

Wren finally experienced her First Change at the ripe old age of seventeen. By this point it had been mostly assumed that she wouldn't be changing as it usually came with puberty. She had been left to babysit her two younger siblings Lark (12) and Robyn (7). Due to sneaking out the night before, she was nursing a hangover. Her younger brother, unhappy with her sending him to his room for banal reasons started to threaten that he would tell their father she'd been sneaking out in retaliation.
Wren snapped and suddenly underwent her first painful change. She slashed her brother across the chest and face. Thankfully he was able to escape, locking himself and their younger sister in a closet as Wren proceeded to smash the house up in a mindless act of rage and destruction. Luckily, they lived on the grounds of a sept and so some adult Garou were soon there to subdue her and calm her down. Lark was rushed to a local hospital and Wren was eventually snapped back into her homid (human) shape.
The relationship between Wren and her siblings was stilted and awkward after that. Lark was afraid that Wren might snap again, Robyn was too young to understand in great detail why Wren was suddenly being treated differently to before.
Shortly after, she was sent away from her immediate family to be 'fostered' by her Aunt who would teach her the ways to be a valuable member of Garou society. She left home for the first time and went down to the sept her Aunt belonged to in Yorkshire.
Wren took to the physical demands on her immediately but was slower to pick up on the spiritual and Litany aspects of her training. Aunt Lynne focused on trying to instill some common sense into her niece (with minimal success). This took the shape of
- Leaving her in a forest with only a small hunting knife and making her survive the night without changing form
- Teaching her the histories of the Fianna people and the ways they had changed the world.
- Explaining the connection between Garou and Spirits
- Giving her a healthy fear that the Spirits were always watching her deeds
- Training her in leathal combat, defence and weapons
- Punishing her way in ways that had impact like forcing her to write lines from the litany or from the Fianna tribal history
- Passed her Rite of Initiation shortly after turning eighteen. Her tests were
- Test of Humiliation - Wren was made to sit naked and have her entire body painted with woad while being taunted and teased to try to provoke a frenzy. This was her most challenging task and the one she came closest to failing.
- Test of Hunt - She and a group of other cliath were sent into the forest to hunt a young deer and capture it without killing it.
- Test of Blood - Wren recounted all Garou and Kinfolk in her heritage, giving homage to the noted deeds of those that had come before her.
Upon her 'entry' into Garou society, she changed her name by dropping the W and renaming herself Ren.

Cliath: (2020 - 2021) 18-19

Once she was confirmed as a Cliath, she was sent to a sept in Denver Colorado to join them and form her own pack with fellow young wolves. She makes pack with Johan (Get of Fenris - Homid - Ahroun), Ji-Hyun (Stargazer - Homid - Ragabash), Jabari (Child of Gaia - Lupus - Philodox), Night Hunter (Red Talon - Lupus - Ragabash), Colin (Fianna - Metis - Theurge) and Rowan (Glasswalker - Homid - Galliard).
For their first year, they mostly lurch from one disaster to the next, under the guidance of their Guardian Spirit Chico the Coyote. They named themselves the Queer Eye pack - much to the confusion of their pack elders. Their notable deeds included:
- Nearly getting Ren killed in an ambush in her first week with the sept, earning her the deed name 'Rages-Against-The-Odds'.
- Nearly getting a prominent member of the sept killed during a rite where they were meant to be protecting her
- One of the pack running away to be with the fairies and having to be recovered,while another pack member was put on trial for murdering a baby fairy tree. The pack defended them.
- Getting shot at by a local politician who turned out to be Black Spiral Dancer kin
- Uncovering an illegal wolf puppy farm
- Being nuisances to their local philodox babysitterJordana
- Helping to recover a lost Caern and ending up with one member of the pack throwing Ren in a hole and shooting her, almost killing her
- Going to experience the actual Salem Witch Trials so their tribeless pack member could join another tribe
- Stealing cars from people they killed. (The last one sounds bad but they definitely deserved it).
During that time Ren took up the mantle of pack alpha. Or more, Ren took it and nobody opposed her. She soon realised that as the most 'traditional' Garou out of her companions, they needed her to step forward for them and be their common voice. This led to Ren growing up very quickly when she realised that being a gloryhound wouldn't serve the needs of her pack well. She started to dedicate herself to keeping them safe and helping them to achieving their goals. This led to a shift in her mentality - no longer was it important that she was the best Garou in the world. It was more important that the pack was the best pack in the world. She pushed them like a tiger mother to improve themselves.
A notable change for Ren during this period was her perception of Crinos-Born Werewolves (Metis). The Fianna tribe of werewolves are a lot harsher on werewolves born from the forbidden mating of two Garou. Ren was raised in these attitudes and never particularly needed to confront them until she had a metis packmate from the same tribe, Colin. At first she treated him as badly as she'd always treated metis. He was a second class of Garou, she was a purebred Fianna. They weren't the same. Until the first Beltane that they attended together. She saw first hand how Colin was treated in comparison to her and decided to make a conscious effort to counteract it, even getting a matching tattoo with him as a gesture of solidarity.
And then her best friend died. Johan, who had been like a brother to her from the very start, died during a fight with a Black Spiral Dancer (BSD) Garou. This impacted Ren and the pack deeply. The pack change their name to 'Never Say Die' out of reverence to their lost packmate and grieve together. Ren vows to destroy any BSD that she comes into contact with.

Fostern: (2021 - 2027) 19-25

Ren passes her Fostern Challenge after approaching a fellow Fianna living in Denver. She is challenged to stay on the back of a Rodeo Bull for a set period of time without frenzying or being bucked off its back. She takes to this surprisingly well and is made Fostern.
Over the next few years the pack and Ren:
- Help to 'decalcify' London City
- Visit her family in the North East of England and are there for her brother Lark's first change.
- Destroy a BSD nest and make themselves an absolute nuisance for them at every turn.
- Return to visit the Fey through the Arcadian Gate and just about avoid causing a civil war between the Seelie and Unseelie - rescuing their packmate from the grasps of a dark faerie who had taken interest in him
- See one of their packmates (Hunter) become a father to a litter of puppies and as a result become far more invested in protecting their local nature reserves
- Make friends with a local 'ghosthunter' kinfolk and feature as part of an accidentally viral clip series on youtube called 'Jocks Vs Spooky Noises'. Where Ren in particular is featured screaming and running away from innocuous things (or trying to throw hands at gently wafting curtains).
- Make enemies with a local news station and over the course of serval years manage to put it out of business.
- Establish themselves as a pack who can do the 'unusual' tasks that crop up.

Adren: (2027-2030) 25-28

Ren fails her first Adren Rank Challenge. She was set the task of preparing a group of cliath for their first proper combat - teaching them the pitfalls and dangers that lay ahead, preparing for what they needed to do in order to achieve their goal of destroying a Bane. Ren defaulted to the way that she had been taught; hard love and harsh treatment, pushing teenagers into a dangerous situation who weren't ready yet because she was determined to succeed. The pack of cliath failed their first combat mission spectacularly, falling apart under the pressure that Ren had placed upon then, leaving her to have to rush in and save them. They all managed to escape but not unscathed. She was heavily criticised putting her own want for Glory over the needs of the cliath. She hadn't learnt from the mistakes of her past and had transferred that onto the youth of tomorrow.
Ren spends the next few years soul searching. In that time, her father finally perishes in the line of his duty. This breaks her spirit for some time and Ren allows Ji-Hyun to take leadership of the pack while she isn't fit to do so. She comes close to falling into harano (super werewolf depression) but is barely kept out of it by her packmates. She eventually takes up role as pack alpha again, challenging Ji-Hyun to a contest. Ji-Hyun, knowing that Ren desires this a lot more than she does and wanting to avoid bloodshed, chooses a gamecraft challenge that she knows Ren can win; a simple footrace.
She takes a part-time job with Denver Fire Department, doing 'scared straight' programs with young arsonists, fire rescue and helping with search operations. This is assisted by a local kinfolk Orla who works for the department and can help cover for her when she needs to abruptly leave to deal with werewolf stuff. Ren genuinely enjoys this work as it gives her a taste of a life outside of being Garou where people aren't intimidated by her size and strength and it's viewed as an asset.
She starts to apprentice under the sept's Warder Dawn's Memory to train for taking up a position of responsibility as a Guardian.

Shapeshifting - Ren can transform herself from human (homid) to wolf (lupus) to sterotypical werewolf (crinos). There are inbetweeny forms such as teen wolf (glabro) and direwolf (hispo). She can change at will but also may be forced to shift if her rage gets the better of her.

Martial Arts - Ren is an ahroun (warrior) among her people and prides herself on her grappling and martial arts abilities. She's been training with her family since she was a girl and is the first to throw a punch in most situations. She uses the excuse of moving to Denver to train in mixed martial arts to cover up for moving to join her new werewolf group.

Supernatural Strength, Speed and Healing - Ren is far stronger than your average human, being able to easily lift 600lbs even when in her human form. She can outrun most professional athletes and heal from injuries far quicker than a human.

Gifts from Gaia - Garou like Ren gain mystical gifts from Mother Gaia. Ren's gifts allow her to:

Razor Claws - Sharpen her claws on rocks so they are more lethal
City Running - Parkour baby, Ren can scale buildings as easily as she can walking on the ground

Spiritual Connection - Garou are spiritual warriors and work closely with the spirit world to defend Gaia. Ren is connected to her pack's resident spirit Coyote (Chico) and her tribe's guardian spirit Stag. Garou can slip into a secondary plane called the Umbra that is full of spirits but Ren will not easily be able to do this in Saltburn due to her being really bad at passing through the gauntlet by herself.

WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUND? WHAT IS THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO WEALTH?:

Ren is solidly upper middle-class and has never experienced struggles with money. Her mother is a veterinarian with her own practice who brought in a solid wage and as a child she lived in an inherited farmhouse with acres of land attached. Her family have generational wealth from some questionable accounting and tax avoidance - as is tradition with Garou families who live on the outskirts of polite society. They do just enough to not get audited by HMRC and hide the money they have under the mattress.

She grew up under the incorrect belief that they had a very normal - if not poorer - quality of living when compared with the average person due to her ignorance about money. In her mind, because they didn't have brand new things and lived in the North East of England that probably meant they weren't well off. Those things were mostly antiques and family heirlooms.

Her family still support her financially.

WHAT WOULD/DID YOUR CHARACTER MAJOR IN?:

Ren is not intelligent enough to attend university or college. If she was made to attend, it would have to be a sports studies major.

WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR CHARACTER?:

Undergoing her first change at seventeen and almost killing her younger brother in a rage, only to be congratulated once she was snapped out of it. Her family held a party shortly after while her brother was whisked away to hospital. It totally wasn't deeply traumatising.

Amani - The History of Ren Rages-Against-The-Odds

Ren was born 22nd Feb 2002 in Northern England. Her father was Garou and mother was kin.

At seventeen she changed for the first time and became Garou as well. Undertook a year of training to figure out how to become an effective warrior and passed her Rite of Initiation shortly after turning eighteen becoming a Cliath.

Following a call for young Garou, she went to Colorado USA to join the sept of the Relentless Beat with a group of six other young Garou.

For their first year, they mostly lurch from one disaster to the next, under the guidance of their Totem Chico the Coyote Spirit. This includes; saving a child from almost certain death, one of the pack running away to be with the fairies and having to be recovered, one of the pack being sent back to be retrained due to his anxiety, making a tree grow in the centre of a city, being nuisances to their local philodox babysitter and stealing cars from people they killed. (The last one sounds bad but they definitely deserved it).

When she's about 19 she finally comes out to her family as bisexual - only to get clipped around the back of the head because of course they know who did you think you were kidding, Ren? It's only really a big deal to her. Beyond her Father just being upset that she felt she couldn't be true to herself or open about what she felt was a big secret.

Her pull point is May 2023. Ren has recently passed her Fostern Rank Challenge. It took her longer to get there than the average Ahroun thanks to the antics of her pack and her own unwise behaviour at times. She's no longer considered a recruit but a seasoned veteran of her own right. She is currently Alpha of the Queer Eye pack after leadership had passed between herself, her Beta and other packmates over the years. She is currently training under one of the Warders of her sept to learn how to take up the role once she stretches herself for her Adren Rank Challenge.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Ren Rages-Against-The-Odds (Her human name or 'kin name' is Wren O'Neill)

HISTORY:

- Born to a Kinfolk mother and Garou father in 2002
- Relatively normal childhood other than some mild aggression and bullying issues. Mum enrolled her in martial arts classes to try and temper the worst of it.
- Has two younger siblings, Robin and Lark.
- 2019, she undergoes her First Change. Luckily her Aunt was nearby and able to pull her away to safety before she was able to seriously hurt any of her family.
- She then goes into a year long training and upskilling in Garou society, being fostered by her Aunt who is responsible for teaching her how to be a werewolf. Passes her Rite of Initiation and becomes a Cliath.
- Shortly after, a Sept out in Colorado USA asks for young Garou to help them to bolster their numbers. Ren goes with the ideal in her head that this is how she makes a name for herself.
- Is introduced to the rest of her new pack and they get sent out on a few basic missions. During an investigation at a farm, Ren is mortally wounded and rages to prevent herself from dying. Ends up gaining the deed name 'Rages-Against-The-Odds' after she jumps between two groups of enemies to prevent them from escaping.
- She is setting herself up to be the pack alpha with shows of dominance and tying to show herself to be a capable and strong leader.

PAST GAME MEMORIES: N/a

PERSONALITY: The thing that gets Ren out of bed in the morning is the desire to be a Hero. She firmly believes that she was born into the heritage she was in order to be one of the Garou who helps to prevent the apocalypse. Her father, aunt and grandfather are also Garou. She is the third generation of werewolf in her family and three is an auspicious number to Fianna (Her Tribe). Ren firmly believes that she is meant for great things and that she will in some way have a part in preventing the Apocalypse.

She is by nature a bully. Because Ren isn't very intelligent she expresses herself physically and usually this is in the most brutish way possible. She has been taught from that to be strong is the only way for her to survive and serve Gaia well. Her physical might is her number one attribute and she falls back onto it like a crutch when she is unsure of what is happening. Punch first, ask questions later. What to her seems totally natural - like keeping Metis in their places - seems utterly brutish to humans.

She isn't entirely unpleasant though. She has some very protective instincts and will actively put herself in the way of danger to protect others from her pack or other Garou. This is the burden she expects to hold as an Ahroun.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

Ren is a werewolf and has a foot in either of the worlds. Her auspice is Ahroun which makes her a warrior. What this means in practical terms is that she is in rude health and stronger than your average eighteen year old girl. The downside is that if she gets overly emotional or spooked there's a good chance she'll fly into a rage and not be able to control herself.

She is essentially a furry chainsaw of death.

Ren has the ability to 'side step' into another plane of existence called the Umbra. It is where the spirits live and she can travel through it with no distractions. It requires a mirrored surface and time to concentrate on going to the other side.

ANYTHING ELSE? Humans will naturally feel exceptionally uneasy around Ren thanks to her 6 points of rage. Like sitting next to a powder keg while holding a match. It's less a point of when she'll explode rather than if.

Important events that transpired between the two points: Ren was made alpha of her pack, learnt to drive and learnt that apparently people don't get to chose who they're born to or how they're born. She also finally gained a pack totem - Coyote (He's called Chico and he's cool as hell).

She went to Beltane, spent time with the pack, prevented two of them from going to jail and started investigating some missing children around Denver.
How these events affected the characters personality? Ren's taken on a position of authority within her pack and is taking it very seriously. She's starting to question the tribal beliefs that Fianna have about the metis and is growing more empathetic. In general, she's still very ambitious but her ambitions are changing more to making the pack the best it can be than making herself the best werewolf ever.

She's starting to mature and realise that being alpha means she has to make the hard decisions even when she doesn't want to.
Will this canon update have a great impact on their life in Ainmhian?: She's still a dumbass so she'll be much the same, but she won't be as needlessly unkind to people and more willing to listen and take advice from people without kicking off.

First Impressions

Homid (Human Form) -
Ren is 5ft 10 and built with lean muscle. She has short dark hair cut into a pixie cut and that good old-fashioned British pale skin. Brown eyes with a knick in her eyebrow that she shaved in herself. She favours leggings and vest-tops and usually looks like she's just rolled out of training at any given moment. She has two celtic knot bands tattooed on her left arm. On her right inner wrist she has a stylised stag.

Ren has a large scar on her right leg that runs from her thigh to her groin. This is the result of a frenzy injury and remains hairless no matter what form she's in.

Ren speaks in a broad Northern-English accent (Geordie) and tends to use a lot of British slang.

In Lupus (Wolf Form) -

In lupus, Ren stands at about 4ft tall. She is large with shiny black fur. She is physically imposing and well-built. Because of her Fionn pure breed, she bares a resemblence to the ominous Black Shuck of British Folk Lore. Her coat is very glossy though.

In Crinos (War Form) -

8ft of pure werewolfy muscle and murder. Will induce delirium in humans. A typical werewolf.

FAQ

So how strong is Ren?

Ren can comfortably lift, carry, move up to 600lb in weight without really thinking about it. It is reasonable to say she is stronger than most humans. She's a trained fighter that specialises in hand to hand and grappling.

Where is she from?

Ren comes from Northumberland, England. She currently lives in Colorado (USA), near Denver in the Sept of the Relentless Beat.

What type of Werewolf is she?

Ren is a Garou from the Fianna Tribe. Her 'normal' form is that of a human being young woman - this is how she was born and is referred to as her breed form - but she can shift anywhere from a black wolf to a huge werewolf.

Can she pass on being a werewolf?

No! In the World of Darkness TTRPG Werewolf the Apocalypse, being a werewolf is not a curse and can not be transmitted. Ren was born into a family that had Garou heritage - also known as being kinfolk - and experienced the change into becoming Garou herself when she was 17. She grew up knowing that werewolves exist as her father changed as well.

Approximately 1/10 kinfolk (or less) will experience the change and transform into werewolves. They are Gaia's chosen warriors and are there to defend the Earth from evils such as the Wyrm.

What do you mean by rage?

Mechanically speaking, Ren has 6 dots in Rage out of a possible 10.

Ren is an angry person. Because she was born under the full moon, she is known to other Garou as an Ahroun. An Ahroun is a warrior among warrior people. For normal humans in her world, it is very unsettling for them to be around Ren for long periods of time, like sitting next to a ticking bomb that could go off at any moment. If she loses her temper and falls into a rage, she can become a destructive machine unable to stop herself from being violent.

So, why can't she talk about being a werewolf?

The Garou agree to live by a set of rules that are consistent across the tribes. This is called the Litany. The Litany has many rules about the responsibility of werewolf but one of the most important ones is that they can not reveal their nature to humans or pierce 'the veil'. Failure to comply with this rule will result in her being killed as she is a danger to the secrecy of Garou culture.

Ren will often talk around this point in a careful manner. She's been given a set cover story and that's the one she defaults to when introducing herself to new people.

What's with the multiple names?
Ren was born Wren O'Neill on 22 February 2002. When she changed at 17 and started her year of training with her aunt, she decided to drop the W from her name and start using Ren instead. To her mind, it sounds the same and it's less letters to write. When she went to her new sept, she ended up being given a deed name after unwittingly walking into an ambush, now, she's know as Ren Rages-Against-The-Odds.
